CLOTHING & TEXTILES
Weave the digital thread through your clothing and textile supply chain.
SWISS delivers rapid productivity gains by streamlining the design-to-ship process for buyers, manufacturers, mills, and test labs.
Reduce cycle times. Avoid rework. Drive efficiency.
SWISS understands clothing and textile manufacturing requirements. Join the US Department of Defense in turning your static design, procurement, and certification documents into digital twins to streamline your supply chain.
Apparel manufacturers are drowning in static design, material, and production documents that are not part of the digital thread; tech packs, spec sheets, notes on drawings, standards, cut and sew instructions, test requirements, and more. SWISS transforms these static documents into intelligent, interoperable, and reusable digital models. The result is a more efficient, higher-quality supply chain.
The US Department of Defense uses TexSpecs to Build a Better Army Combat Uniform
America’s warfighters are protected by a highly engineered, complex weapon system: the Army Combat Uniform (ACU).
- Has an optimized camouflage pattern
- Is chemically treated to help prevent malaria
- Contains Near-Infrared (NIR) Signature Management Technology
- Incorporates Permanent IR IFF squares for identification with night goggles
- Contains a myriad of other features
Procuring and manufacturing the ACU involves extracting requirements from nearly 100 specifications consisting of thousands of pages authored by thirteen different sources, including MIL, ASTM, and AATCC. Identifying requirements and managing change across this network is extremely difficult.
Managing these documents and their changes in a timely fashion, and without errors, using PDFs was nearly impossible. To address this problem, the Defense Logistics Agency funded the development of TexSpecs based on SWISS.
TexSpecs creates interoperable structured digital models of Purchase Descriptions, Interim Changes, and other specification-based technical documents, which reduce the cost, time, and errors associated with PDF-based tech data management.
The TexSpecs/SWISS library already includes digital models of the most highly-referenced industry and military clothing and textile standards. When your organization converts your own proprietary standards and internal documentation to SWISS and combines them with the TexSpecs library, you get a single source of comprehensive, interoperable engineering data.
